While lying down, knead the trapezius muscles. You need to lie down because doing so relaxes the trapezius muscle due to the fact that it no longer has to bear the weight of the arms. Ensure that you knead the sore spots in a slow rhythmic motion while incrementally moving towards your arms.

While it is possible to give yourself a massage, to do so effectively is nearly impossible, therefore you will need to get someone to do this for you; a friend, sibling, spouse, partner, it does not really matter as long as you show them what to do.
